Vacation rental turnover cleaning checklist

A clean rental is only the beginning. A strong turnover also restores the property to a consistent standard, catches problems early, and makes the next guest feel expected.

Request turnover cleaning

Use this checklist between every stay.

Adapt it to the property, host instructions, and required products. Keep a separate inventory and maintenance list so cleaning issues do not get confused with repairs or supply shortages.

01

Whole-property reset

  • Open blinds and turn on lights for a complete visual inspection.
  • Remove trash and check drawers, closets, and under furniture for belongings.
  • Dust from high to low before vacuuming and mopping.
  • Check for damage, missing items, stains, odors, and maintenance concerns.
02

Kitchen

  • Clean and disinfect counters, sinks, faucets, cabinet pulls, and switches.
  • Inspect the refrigerator, freezer, oven, microwave, coffee area, and dishwasher.
  • Replace liners, restock approved supplies, and confirm dishes are clean and organized.
  • Sweep and mop edges, under movable items, and around appliances.
03

Bathrooms

  • Disinfect the toilet, vanity, sink, fixtures, shower, and tub.
  • Remove hair and soap residue from drains, tile, glass, and corners.
  • Replace towels and approved amenities using the host's standard arrangement.
  • Polish mirrors and chrome, then inspect from the doorway for presentation.
04

Bedrooms and living spaces

  • Strip and remake beds with inspected linens.
  • Dust furniture, lamps, headboards, electronics, and high-touch surfaces.
  • Vacuum upholstery and floors, checking beneath beds and cushions.
  • Reset furniture, décor, remotes, and welcome materials consistently.
05

Final guest-ready check

  • Set the thermostat and lights according to the host's instructions.
  • Confirm doors and windows are secure and keys are in the correct place.
  • Photograph completed rooms when documentation is part of the service.
  • Report supply shortages, damage, or maintenance needs before the next arrival.
